Tony Sly/Joey Cape: S/T

With the passing of Tony Sly this past week, it only seemed right to include his acoustic split EP with Joey Cape in this week’s group of artists. Even if you personally weren’t a fan of No Use For a Name I’m sure that one of your favorite bands was inspired by them. Both songs were written by talented artists, one of which left too soon. Check out the S/T here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/s-t/id355356971

The Front Bottoms: Summer of Steroids

The Front Bottoms are an incredibly fun band to listen to. Doesn’t matter what time of day it is, or the season or even your mood. “The Beers” is one of my favorites from the band’s self-titled, and “More Than It Hurts You” is a good B-side. There’s no sleeve and that bothers me because I want this record to last, but I’ll live. Download “The Beers” here and stream a few of their other songs: http://www.facebook.com/thefrontbottoms/app_178091127385

Dead End Alaska/Dead End Sons: Family and Friends split

After borrowing this from Daryl (one of our other reviewers at Hellhound) I listened to it over and over. It’s not the sort of record I’d typically buy (and I’m not keeping it), but it fits in with the rest of my library somehow. The quality of the pressing is good, so it plays about as smoothly as you’d expect. Check them out here: http://deadendalaska.bandcamp.com/

Mixtapes: Somewhere In Trinsic

I always knew I read the liner notes for a reason. Now I know these guys really are just money hungry frauds. It’s cool though because, as usual, I’m distracted by catchy pop-punk jams and colorful artwork (I like the simple things in life). For real though, let’s get serious now. The record sounds great and the songs sound like this: http://nosleepsampler.com/album/somewhere-in-trinsic
